Veterans of Foreign Wars Frontier Post 11453 supports the VFW National Youth & Education Programs, in-fact we are proud to say in recent years participants who entered these contests through our post have competed very well in Wyoming District 5 (posts from Cheyenne, Wheatland, Torrington, and Guernsey), and in the Department of Wyoming (thirty-some posts throughout the state). Some of our post participants have even been recognized at the national level (where they competed against thousands of their peers).
These contests are open to all applicants of the correct school grade. VFW family members are eligible to participate, but you do not need to have a family member in the VFW to compete. In-fact the identity of all entrants is kept secret until the judging is complete.
Participants in the Cheyenne area: All three VFW Posts in Cheyenne support these Youth
Programs. Post 1881 has a post home located next to KIA of Cheyenne on
Nationway, Post 4343 has a post home located at 3216 South Greeley Highway, and Post 11453
meets inside Veteran's Rock 605 South Greeley Highway. You may submit your entry to any one local VFW
Post.
Additionally, in recent years our post has contacted and delivered contest
materials to Laramie County School District 2 (LCSD2) schools, private, parochial, and children being home
schooled.
You may only submit
one entry per year, but we hold these contests at the same time every year. If you win or not you are welcome to participate again next year as long as you meet the grade requirement. Good luck. Oh... did we mention the prizes! Some cash, some scholarships.
New for 2024: use of Artificial Intelligence is prohibited; each submission and will be tested.
