1922-2009
Harold Eugene Wininger, 86, was born Oct. 3, 1922, in St. Francis, Kan., and left us to be with his Lord on March 27.
He married LaVonne "Bonnie" Wininger on Aug. 11, 1946, in Eaton, Colo.
They lived in Fort Collins, Colo., LaGrange, Hanna, and Cheyenne, where they raised five children.
After 62 years of marriage, Bonnie preceded him in death by one day.
He was very proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the Battleship Maryland during the attack on Pearl Harbor and several sea battles during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Harold is survived by his children: Thomas (Dusty) Rick of Loveland; Darlene Ljungblad of San Diego; Harold "Eugene" (Nancy) Wininger of Canon City, Colo.; Alyce Lane (Larry) and Sheryl Wininger, of Cheyenne; stepbrother, Alvin McKenzie; grandchildren: Jodi Grimm; Thomas (Tammy) Rick Jr.; Mindy Longfellow (Doug); Nick Whitehouse; Tonja Coates (Steve); Tammy (Brian) Wainwright; Eric Ljungblad; Nathan (Cathy) Wininger; Neal (Renee) Wininger; Bambi (Rodger) Morton; Shane (Jennifer) Lane; Nikole Garcia; his great-grandchildren: Russell Grimm; Tyler and Dirk Rick; Lorretta (Brian) Starck; Valerie and Ian Longfellow; Keagan and Sacha Coates; Bret Wainwright; Elliott, Isaac, Abram and Brendon Wininger; Britani (Julio) and Ryan Morton; Jessica and Christopher Lane; Ashlei, Dakota, Shelby and Skylar Garcia; great-great-grandson, Wyatt Starck; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wininger was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Lynn and Dorothy Mae Wininger; son, Riley Wininger; brothers, Clifford "Jack" Wininger, Lynn "Tuney" Wininger; stepbrother, Leonard "Red" McKenzie; and sister, A. Lynette Mason.
