Dale B. McAfee, 77, of Cheyenne died Jan. 10 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 27, 1930, on a farm in north-central Iowa and grew up in Hampton, Iowa.

Mr. McAfee graduated from Hampton High School before joining the U.S. Navy on Aug. 30, 1950.

He served as an electrician's mate 2/C aboard the USS New Jersey during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. McAfee became an electrician's apprentice in September of 1954, a journeyman electrician, then a master electrician in May of 1964. He also became an unlimited certified welder on industrial construction.

He married Wathena "Theany" Helms on Nov. 7, 1953, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island, Neb., and he loved his wife and family fiercely.

Mr. McAfee is survived by his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark C. McAfee of Cheyenne, and Scott and Jody McAfee of Honolulu; three daughters and their husbands, Jody and Jay Kole of Grand Junction, Colo., Connie and Edward Kassahn of Cheyenne, and Kathie and Michael Peterson of Fort Collins, Colo.; his grandchildren, Katie and Jonathan McAfee, Justin, Marshall and Grace Kole, Carrie and Sarah Kassahn, and Perri Clara Peterson; great-granddaughter, Kielee Adams; a brother, Don McAfee of Mason City, Iowa; three sisters, Audrey Anderson of Surprise, Ariz., Margaret Baldridge of Centralia, Ill., and Wilma Mordhorst of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Wilhelmina McAfee; two sisters, Carol Elphic and Iva Myers; and five brothers, Wilbert, LeRoy, Clark, Dean and Russell McAfee.

Pallbearers are Mel McVey, Jerry Richmond, Dave Wemhoff, Jay Kole, Edward Kassahn and Michael Peterson.

The Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Cronkleton as the celebrant.

Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
