Eldon D. Triggs, Sr., 88, of Cheyenne died Oct. 11 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 11, 1922, in Ayrshire, Iowa, and was raised by his widowed mother, Lizzie Triggs. He married Beverly A. Freimuth on May 16, 1941, in Blair, Neb. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving and wounded at Iwo Jima during World War II, where he was awarded the purple heart. He later retired from the Department of the Treasury and later worked as a tax and management consultant.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Past Master of Cheyenne Lodge No. 1, A.F. & A. M.; Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, 33rd Degree; Past Patron of Mizpah Chapter No. 36; York Rite; Past Puissant Sovereign Red Cross of Constantine; Allied Masonic Degrees; Past President National Sojourners; Shrine; past board member of the Salvation Army and the Cheyenne Crimestoppers; Order of the Purple Heart; Cheyenne Astronomical Society; Veteran of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Ronald Triggs of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Eldon D. (Lindsay) Triggs, II of Phenix City, Ala., Anderson Lohr Triggs of West Palm Beach, Fla., Angel J. Triggs of West Hollywood, Calif., and Lindsay Triggs of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; great-grandson, Christian Jacob Triggs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly A. Triggs; parents and a daughter, Linda Lee Triggs.
Rose Croix Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Masonic Temple with the Officers of Wyoming Consistory No. 1 officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery conducted by the Officers of Cheyenne Lodge No. 1, A.F. & A.M. Military Honors will be provided by The American Legion Honor Guard and the United States Naval Reserve.
