Post Officer Nominations, Election, and Installation

  • Nominations opened: March 10, 2026.
  • Still accepting candidates: Submit your nomination soon.
  • Nominations close and election: April 14, 2026.
  • Officer installation: May 12, 2026.
  • New officers assume duties: After VFW Department of Wyoming Convention, June 18–21, 2026.

Elected Officer Summaries

  • Post Commander: Presides over meetings, enforces rules, appoints committees, ensures officers perform duties.
  • Senior Vice Commander: Assists Commander, preserves order, presides if Commander is absent, provides support as needed.
  • Junior Vice Commander: Assists Commander and Senior Vice, preserves order, presides if both are absent, provides support as needed.
  • Quartermaster: Chief financial officer; custodian of Post property; handles, disburses, and accounts for Post funds.
  • Trustees: Review monthly receipts and expenditures; audit Post accounts quarterly; certify expenditures. There are three trustees, each serving a three-year term, with a "new” trustee rotating in each year.

Appointed Officer Summaries

  • Adjutant: Prepares reports, keeps official records and files, transfers records to successor.
  • Service Officer: Helps members and families obtain federal and state benefits; prepares forms and evidence.
  • Judge Advocate: Provides legal guidance to the Commander and Post.
  • Surgeon: Leads health programs for the Post and community.
  • Chaplain: Leads visiting committee; visits sick or disabled members and reports to the Post.
  • Officer of the Day: Custodian of colors and meeting property; ensures meeting security and verifies member dues.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where he served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.


There is a new cartoon everyday.
