VFW Post 11453 Members Tour Wyoming’s Capitol

On June 21, 2025, members of VFW Frontier Post 11453 gathered for an exclusive guided walkthrough of Wyoming’s State Capitol building. The personal tour was led by the post’s Chaplain, Mary Lee Dixon, who provided context on the building’s history, architectural revival, and its role in state governance.

Background on the Capitol Remodel

The Wyoming State Capitol underwent a multi-year restoration from 2016 to 2019. Key improvements included

  • seismic upgrades and structural stabilization
  • restoration of original skylights, stained-glass domes, and ornamental plasterwork
  • modernization of accessibility features while preserving historic chambers
  • updated mechanical, electrical, and fire-safety systems

These efforts returned the Capitol to its 1917 grandeur and ensured it meets 21st-century needs.
