Here are the minutes from our November meeting

VFW Post 11453 - November 10, 2020

 

The Commander called the meeting to order at 7:00.  The following officers were present: Commander Bush, SVC Dyke, JVC Maas, Adjutant Peoples, Judge Advocate Rish, Chaplain M. Dixon, and 1-year Trustee Daniels. Quartermaster Tripp was excused.

Comrade Maas made a motion to approve the October minutes. It was seconded, and motion carried.

Comrade Maas made a motion to approve the September Quartermaster’s report. It was seconded, and the motion carried. The October Quartermaster’s report will wait until December. Comrade Peoples reported on donations and sales in October and November. The post collected $158 in Poppy donations at Tractor Supply Company and $128 in Poppy donations at the Meadowlark Market ($286 relief fund). Additionally, the post earned $321 in gingerbread men sales at the Meadowlark Market and Western Conference. The $321 will go into the post general fund.

Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy: We have nine Patriot’s Pen and three Voice of Democracy entrants. The packages have been forwarded to the judges’ panel. The winners must be send to Don Mack at District 5 by Thanksgiving. Comrade Peoples made a motion to award the top 3 winners in each competition $150 for first, $100 for second, and $75 for third. It was seconded, and the motion carried.

Old Business:

Pearl Harbor Day Dinner: Comrade Peoples made a motion to hold the Pearl Harbor Day/Awards event on Saturday, December 5, at 1:00 at the First Christian Church. Eastern Star will provide coffee, tea, and snacks for $150, as there will be no catered meal due to COVID 19. Attendance by invitation only (Post members, guests, award winners, judges).

Comrade M. Dixon collected items for the Post’s In Kind donation drive for Veterans’ Rock.

8PM: National Home prayer.

New Business:

Comrade M. Dixon would like us to have a card with information on our post for potential members.

Comrade Chaplin M. Dixon has received many Military BibleSticks (various versions of the New Testament and selected Psalms prerecorded on an mp3/ipod type device. These BibleSticks were provided free of charge by Military BibleStick and are to be passed on to military members and veterans without cost. Chaplin M. Dixon is asking post members for ideas to disperse them. More info can be found at https://militarybiblestick.com

Comrade Maas reported he has arranged for the Post to conduct a Poppy Drive on May 29, 2021 (the Saturday before Memorial Day) near the Wyoming Capitol / State Museum). The event is Cheyenne Cruise Nights/Cruise the Legend. Good of the Order: The Veterans Day Ceremony at the Legion was cancelled due to COVID 19.
